Abstract
This work stems from the results of recent examinations for admission to the University José María Arguedas, where we can see that the averages obtained by students going in offspring, and it is unfortunate to see that many of the students of this institution show difficulty in mathematics courses, which is reflected in the large number of students disapproved. Probably everyone shares that the most important areas in the teaching-learning process and mathematical communication are what I think of reasons to worry about learning outcomes in these areas. This work was developed with 1947 students in the fifth grade of secondary education of which 930 are in rural and urban areas are 1017, covering 17 of the 19 districts that have Andahuaylas province, where one can see that the figures higher in rural areas (42.26%) is at a deficient level mathematical reasoning, while the highest figures in the urban area (38.75%) are at a good level. On the other hand in the province of Andahuaylas the highest number of students are in good level (36.26%) followed closely by the poor level (34.82%) and in all cases very good level is below all levels. It is from these results that we can reflect on how our students are and what to do to improve their performance.
